USECON at the Human-Computer Conference

USECON was part of the annual human-computer conference from 10.-13. September, which was located in Regensburg this year. The conference offered a colourful programme with keynotes, talks, workshops, tutorials, demos and various booths.

Interact playfully

„Interacting playfully“ was the motto. It should point out that the meaning of the gaming industry increases and its reference to questions of interaction design needs to be picked out. People need to be aware that playful elements and pleasure in interacting in lots of other contextes of the human-computer-interaction do play a big role.

The (primarily German) audience consisted mainly of user experience and usability (engineering) professionals as well as some students of equivalent study courses, who wanted to deal with the experience of the speakers, the state-of-the-art-methods, upcoming technologies and innovative projects and products.

Design for Privacy

USECON was part of the MUC this year with two contributions. Michael Bechinie talked within the human-centered track about “Design for Privacy – designing with the human” and its challenges to design interactions with products and services without outsmart the human. He also presented insights of the H2020 project „Privacy & Us“, where USECON is part of.

Mobile Ethnography

On the other hand, Markus Murtinger presented together with Katharina Rainer from More than Metrics in the creative presentations track the results of an employee experience study, which was executed with the tool ExperienceFellows by More than Metrics “Increased Employee Experience with mobile Ethnography”. They pointed out the starting position and motivation for this study, the design of the study, the process and evaluation, concrete results and implemented actions.

We are looking back on an exciting conference and hoping to contribute something next year as well.
