User experience advances the focus of usability!
The user is no longer dealing with "one system at a time"
- he is embedded in a technical environment in which numerous parties
intend to communicate or collaborate with him, as well as service,
inform or entertain him through various technical channels.
The notion of a (single) system being usable and useful isn't sufficient anymore to differentiate a service or product from others in a competitive market. A "good" product will provide the user also with a positive experience. It will support the perception of the user of being addressed as an individual with specific requirements and specific needs within a specific context - being an individual rather than just a customer from target group X.
Therefore, successful systems or products need to consequently address new qualities such as engagement, social values, trust, information quality rather than quantity and integration of various channels.
